The Living Record: A Mother-Daughter Story Portrait

There's a story between a mother and her daughter that usually never gets written down.

You know the one. The history. The love that didn't always know how to say itself out loud. The things she wanted you to know and never quite found the moment.

That's what I write.

What is The Living Record?

I sit with both of you, separately, and I listen. Then I write what I heard -- out loud, and all the tender spaces in between -- into one portrait. Both voices. One story. Something you can hold in your hands and pass down.

You receive it as a beautifully formatted PDF. Print it. Frame it. Tuck it away for the daughter who comes after you.

Every story I write through The Living Record comes from the same belief: your story didn't begin with you. It began with the women who carried you here.

This is how we honor that.

For the Daughter Whose Mother Has Passed

This is where the work gets rare.

If your mother has passed, with your permission, I connect with her in spirit through a gentle and respectful soul connection and ask her to share with me what she never got to say. The love that was held instead of spoken. The story that got buried before it could be told. And I write it for you.

Not as channeling. Not as grief work.

As completion. As the thing your mother would have wanted you to know.

A daughter getting to hear her mother's voice — rendered in words she can keep — is rare. It is sacred. And it is yours to receive.

What's included:

A 15-minute voice interview with the daughter.

A 15-minute voice interview with the mother — or a soul-to-soul connection if she has passed.

The option to add on one archival photograph provided by you, woven into the story.

A beautifully written, multi-generational story that braids both voices together.

Delivered as a professionally formatted PDF — ready to print, frame, or share with the women who come after.

Why create a Living Record?

Most stories between mothers and daughters stay unwritten. Not because they aren't worth keeping. Because no one slowed down long enough to ask. Because life moved fast and the moment passed and then one day it was too late.

The Living Record exists so that doesn't happen to you.

One portrait. One record. The story of two women and the line that runs between them.

The $297 launch price is here for a limited time. As stories are completed and voices are heard, the price will rise to reflect what this actually is — which is irreplaceable.

Have questions? Check out these FAQs.

The link on this page will collect some important info from you. Once I receive that, I will reply with a link to schedule two short interviews — one with you, one with your mother. Each one is about 15 minutes. I ask the questions. You just show up and talk. When both conversations are complete, I disappear into the writing. You receive your finished portrait as a beautifully formatted PDF, ready to print or share.

This is still available to you. In place of her interview, I offer a soul-to-soul connection — a gentle, respectful session where I connect with her in spirit and ask her to share what she never got to say. Many daughters find this to be the most meaningful part of the whole experience.

Is there one that isn't? Complicated is honest. The Living Record isn't about presenting a perfect picture — it's about telling the real one. Some of the most meaningful portraits come from relationships that held both love and challenges. You don't need to have it resolved to have it recorded with tenderness.

Absolutely! Please reach out to me at [email protected] to make a customized arrangement.

Not at all. The heart connection is the heart of the story. Adopted moms, mother figures, grandmothers who raised you — all relationships are welcome, celebrated, and treasured. All of them are stories I'm honored to tell.

No worries! I know how to ask the questions that unlock the stories women don't think anyone wants to hear. You don't need to prepare her or convince her. I will honor and see the beauty in however she shows up.

Whatever feels right. Print it and frame it. Email it to your sisters. Tuck it into a box your daughter will find one day. Some women share it at a family gathering. Some keep it entirely to themselves. It's yours.

For now, yes. The Living Record is built specifically around the matriarchal line that runs through your story. If you have a different relationship in mind, reach out and we can talk.

Hi, I'm Marissa...

I've helped hundreds of women connect with their voices, but mine was not always easy for me to use.

I spent decades softening my words before I even said them, watching myself make the same careful choices other women I knew made. Working for 18 years in a male-dominated educational system that consistently belittled and mocked my voice compounded my belief that quiet meant safe. But it also compounded my frustration and growing desire to unmute myself. For good.

The work of excavating my matriarchal line and reclaiming my voice changed everything. Not in a lightning-bolt moment, but in the slow recognition that I could decide what to carry forward and what to release. I learned to trust what I knew from lived experience instead of constantly deferring to borrowed authority. I found language for truths I'd been holding silently for years. And I discovered that speaking from rooted authority feels completely different than performing confidence or apologizing for taking up space.

Now I guide other women through the same excavation as an intuitive writer and voice reclamation specialist. I help you trace the lineage of silence and expression through your maternal line, map where you've gone quiet and where you're already emerging, and practice speaking from the wisdom you've earned through your own becoming. Together, we undertake the precise, tender work of understanding what shaped your voice so you can reclaim it with intention.
